Then how does it work in the curves in the C near the corners? When the blade gets deep into the wood, how can it follow the curve?
Where do I get the material to make a blade like that?

Claudio... Is this the only knife that you use? Or you use the knife in the photo to scribe the purfling channel then carve/dig with another?
The channel wall look so clean.
What is the thickness of the blade? Is it single beveled?

What is the tonal effect of wide grain vs. narrow grain in the bass bar? I recall once you said wide grain gives sweeter tone for the top plate. Does this principle applies here as well?
And How narrow? How about 6 grains per 6 mm?

I do glue sizing for both maple and spruce just to be on the safe side. As Claudio said, you will end up carving them away anyway. That is if you are using Sacconi's method.
I also apply glue sizing on critical parts of the ff holes.

Claudio... How do you "test" your bass bar? Do you try to flex the plate after installation to see if the bass bar would flex equally at various points? If the bar does not flex equally, how do you modify it? Currently, I find my upper bout slightly more stiff than lower bout. Is this norm...

Terry... The glue on the surface is called "glue sizing" in English. The purpose is to harden the surface that you are working on. When you carve the purfling channels, it is very easy for the wood to split. If your knife isn't raser sharp, it may also follow the grain line instead of the ...

How can one determine the quality of the hide glue? I have both hide glue from Kremer and Morassi. I noticed some differences in their characteristics. Morassi hide glue (granular): The color is very pale. After prepared, the viscosity of the solution tends to be consistent and flows nicely. When th...
