started #1 finally

Messaggio da apartmentluthier »

With Frank's help, I have finally started violin #1. Back is joined and looking good. Rub joint worked well. I did some roughing of the plate just to clean up the joint lines last night. Hopefully I will get the top join finished this week.

My Canadian back looks to have more figure than I expected. Unfortunately, after doing the roughing. noticed some small wood worm holes. I guess this violin will get "antiqued" finish. :)

First model will be based on the 1711 Earl of Plymouth Strad simply because the maker who is helping me uses than model exclusively.

The holes are very small, yet they are still there. A bit upsetting, but I guess I can live with it. It is violin #1, so I will probably do worse to it than he worms did.

Ciao apartmentluthier! I would try to be sure that the worms are dead, I would put the back with some amonia inside a plastic bag (take care with amonia, it's quite dangerous)l
